4.9.4 Linking complete requirements

Sometimes it may be convenient to link all the assumptions defining a Requirement for a Service/Transformation × Resource pair, either from another Requirement, or from an external spreadsheet or database – see 6.3.5 External defaults for Resource Requirements in Excel.

From an individual Requirement dialog, you can select Up from the dialog Move menu in order to access the parent Requirements dialog for the relevant Service or Transformation, where each separate Requirement appears as a single button. You can use drag and drop to copy and paste or link separate Requirements – see 4.15.2 Copying and pasting fields – or you can use the Links dialog to create a reference to an external file such as a spreadsheet or database – see 4.13.1 Creating an external reference.

Of course, these same techniques can also be used in any of the tabular Requirements dialogs for selections or Collections of Services, Transformations, Resources and Functions.

Note: An expanded Requirements dialog must first be unexpanded – by clicking on the Expand button again – in order to show the individual Requirement buttons.
