1.7.10 Orthogonal selection of contributing resources for cost breakdown

A key feature of STEM is its cost allocation and cost breakdown functionality. Cost allocation is always switched on, and generates service results which reflect the allocated cost of the share of resources consumed by a service – see 10.3.4 Cost Allocation for a more detailed explanation. In contrast, cost breakdown has to be specifically switched on – by setting Cost Breakdown = Transparent or Opaque in the global Data/Other Details menu in the Editor. When cost breakdown is switched on, STEM generates allocated cost results at the service level broken down by individual contributing resources – see 10.3.4.4 Cost allocation for Services broken down by individual Resources.

The Cost Breakdown tab in the new graphing interface in STEM 7.5 lets you select specific service/resource pairs to include on a results graph.
