1.6.4.1 Progress reporting

Each individual ‘worker process’ now reports:

  • a percentage complete of its specific task
  • just one part of the overall scope.

The core scheduler aggregates the feedback from each of the individual worker processes and generates a ‘% complete’ overall progress report, making it easier to judge how much longer it will take to run the results. Both the overall % complete and the % complete of the current individual task are displayed at the bottom of the Editor window during a model run.

More detailed logging

A more detailed logging option is now available for diagnostic purposes. It will only be generated if the Log Progress checkbox is selected in the Scenarios and Sensitivities dialog in the Editor, and only then displayed if a model run fails or is interrupted. A log file is generated, listing the date and time each process in a model run starts and ends. It is only really useful if a process starts but does not finish – at which point you may wish to copy the file and send it to the Implied Logic support team for analysis!

Selection of Log Progress option and example error log from an interrupted model run

Overall, these improvements mean that running a model in STEM 7.5 should be faster and easier to monitor, especially if anything should go wrong.
