1.6.1 Hands-on equipment migration

A business model for a mature organisation typically has to deal with the transition from an existing technology to a new technology: the comparison of passive and more active migration scenarios is a well-established STEM hallmark.

  • The Churn Proportion input for a resource requirement (under the Migration heading in the Service/Requirements dialog) determines how fast (if at all) demand for that resource is recycled according to the latest Mapping (potentially to another resource).
  • The Decommissioning Proportion input for a resource (under the Redundant Units heading in the resource Advanced/Other Details dialog) controls how fast redundant units are written off and removed from the business.

New Churn Mode and Decommissioning Mode inputs give you greater flexibility about how the transition takes place and how redundant units are decommissioned.
