Unit Cost

The Capital Cost per unit of a Resource.

Calculated from the Calibration Period per-unit Capital Cost input, the Capital Cost Structure and any Economies of Scale.

If no units are installed in a year, the unit cost is not re-calculated and remains the same as in the previous year.

Include: Standard

Usage Charge Multiplier

The margin applied to a Service’s cost per unit of annual traffic, fed back from the previous year, in order to calculate the cost-dependent usage tariff for the current year.

The Charge Multiplier input.

Include: Advanced

Usage Cost

The annual cost of using leased Resources, charged pro-rata on the basis of the used capacity.

For a Resource: the product of the Calibration Period per-unit Usage Cost input, the normalised global and Resource Usage Cost Trends, the Usage Age Factor and the Used Capacity, divided by the Capacity.

Include: Standard

Usage Cost Dependent Tariff

The cost-dependent part of the composite Usage Tariff.

The Usage Feedback Cost multiplied by the Charge Multiplier input.

Include: Advanced

Usage Cost Independent Tariff

The cost-independent part of the composite Usage Tariff.

The Cost Independent Tariff input.

Include: Advanced

Usage Feedback Cost

The cost per unit of annual traffic, fed back from the previous year, in order to calculate the cost-dependent usage tariff for the current year.

The proportion of costs allocated to a Service, earmarked for the Usage tariff, divided by the Annual Traffic (both in the previous year).

Include: Advanced

Usage Independence Weighting

The factor used to weight the cost-independent part against the cost-dependent part when calculating the composite Usage Tariff.

The Independence Weighting input.

Include: Advanced

Usage Maximum Change

The maximum proportional change in the Usage Tariff permitted between one year and the next. The factor 1 allows 100% change.

The Max Change input.

Include: Advanced

Usage Revenue

The annual revenue collected for traffic carried by a Service.

The Annual Traffic multiplied by the Usage Tariff.

Note: Annual Traffic is calculated from the average number of Connections over a year if the input Use Average Connections = Yes (the default).

Include: Standard

Usage Tariff

The tariff charged per unit of annual traffic. For example, if the Annual Traffic Unit is Call Minutes, the Usage Tariff is the tariff charged per minute.

The weighted average of the cost-independent and cost-dependent usage tariffs, calculated according to the Independence Weighting. If the weighting is 1 (the default) the result is just the cost-independent Usage Tariff input.

Include: Standard

Used Capacity

The portion of installed capacity of resources actually required to satisfy demand, or consumed in a given period.

For a Resource: Installed Capacity minus Slack Capacity minus Used Up capacity.

Consolidation: Last.

Include: Essential

Used Connection Cost

The Connection Cost arising from the Used Capacity of Resources.

Allocated on the basis of current usage of Resources.

Include: Standard

Used Deprec. and Amort.

The Depreciation and Amortisation arising from the Used Capacity of Resources.

For a Service or Transformation: allocated on the basis of current usage of Resources.

Include: Essential for a transformation, Standard for a network, service or market segment.

Used Maintenance Cost

The Maintenance Cost arising from the Used Capacity of Resources.

For a Service or Transformation: allocated on the basis of current usage of Resources.

Include: Standard

Used Net Fixed Assets

The Net Fixed Assets associated with the Used Capacity of Resources.

For a Service or Transformation: allocated on the basis of current usage of Resources.

Include: Standard

Used Operating Charge

The Operating Charge arising from the Used Capacity of Resources.

Allocated on the basis of current usage of Resources.

Include: Essential for a transformation, Standard for a service/resource.

Used Operating Charge/Av Conn

The Operating Charge arising from Used Capacity of Resources divided by the number of Average Connections.

Consolidation: Quotient.

Include: Standard

Used Operating Charge/Conn

The Operating Charge arising from Used Capacity of Resources divided by the number of Connections.

Include: Standard

Used Operating Costs

The Operating Costs arising from the Used Capacity of Resources.

Allocated on the basis of current usage of Resources.

Include: Essential for a transformation, Standard for a service/resource.

Used Rental Cost

The Rental Cost arising from the Used Capacity of Resources.

For a Service or Transformation: allocated on the basis of current usage of Resources.

Include: Standard

Used Units

The number of units of a Resource which are not wholly slack, which may be slightly more than are apparently required to satisfy demand, due to the distribution of capacity across different ages of the Resource.

Installed Units minus Slack Units.

Include: Standard

Used Up Capacity

The amount of installed capacity of a consumable resource which has already been used up in earlier periods and is no longer available to satisfy current demand.

For a resource: Installed Capacity minus Slack Capacity minus Used Capacity. (Zero for a persistent resource.)

Consolidation: Last.

Include: Essential

User 1, User 2,…

General-purpose time-series inputs, defined as explicit results for easier reference in derived-result definitions.

See 9.1 Extending the STEM data model with user data.

Include: Standard

Utilisation Ratio

Used Capacity as a proportion of Installed Capacity.

Include: Essential

Utilisation Units

The additional units required to satisfy any maximum-utilisation constraint, beyond those required to satisfy basic demand.

Required Units minus Used Units minus Deployment Units minus Planned Units.

Include: Standard
