Operating Charge

The total charge for operations, used to calculate profitability.

The sum of Depreciation and Amortisation and Operating Costs.

Include: Essential

Operating Charge/Average Conn

The Operating Charge divided by the number of Average Connections.

Consolidation: Quotient.

Include: Essential

Operating Charge/Conn

The Operating Charge divided by the number of Connections.

Consolidation: Quotient.

Include: Essential

Operating Costs

All non-capitalised costs of operating the network, also known as Running Costs.

For a Resource: the sum of the Maintenance, Churn, Connection, Rental, Usage, Operations, and Decommissioning Costs.

The Service and Network results also include Admin and Provision Costs.

Include: Essential

Operating Costs/Average Conn

Operating Costs divided by the number of Average Connections.

Consolidation: Quotient.

Include: Standard

Operating Costs/Conn

Operating Costs divided by the number of Connections.

Include: Standard

Operating Expenditure

The total expenditure for operations, used to calculate cashflows.

The sum of Capital Expenditure and Operating Costs.

Include: Standard

Operating Profit

The annual profit from operations, before payment of interest, tax and dividends, also known as EBIT.

Revenue minus Depreciation minus Amortisation minus Stock Charge minus Operating Costs.

Include: Essential

Operating Profit/Average Conn

Operating Profit divided by the number of Average Connections.

Operating Profit Margin

A measure of the profitability of the business.

Operating Profit as a proportion of Revenue.

Include: Essential

Operations Cost

The cost of operating Resources in a period.

For a Resource: the product of the Calibration Period per-unit Operations Cost input, the normalised global and Resource Operations Cost Trends, the Operations Age Factor and the Used Capacity, divided by the Capacity.

Include: Standard

Output

[Retained for backwards compatibility only.] The same as whichever of Aggregate Count or Instantaneous Output is defined, but with consolidation disabled to avoid misleading results.

Consolidation: None.

Include: Standard

Output Mode

Overall Charge

The total charge for the network, including interest and tax, used to calculate profitability.

The sum of Depreciation and Amortisation, Operating Costs, Net Interest Expense and Tax Charge.

Include: Standard

Overall Charge/Conn

Overall Charge divided by the total number of Connections.

Include: Standard

Overall Expenditure

The total expenditure for the network, including interest and tax, but not including the increase or decrease in debtors and creditors; used to calculate cashflows.

The sum of Capital Expenditure, Operating Costs, Net Interest Expense, and Tax Paid.

Include: Standard

Overdraft

The amount of money owed on the ‘current account’, if the network is exploiting an overdraft facility, attracting interest at the Overdraft Rate. (A positive balance is shown as Cash.)

The opposite sign of Current Account, if the latter is negative, otherwise zero.

Include: Standard

Overdraft Interest

The money spent on interest payments for an overdraft for the network.

The Overdraft Rate multiplied by the average Overdraft over the year:

where rn is the Overdraft Rate, Bn is the Overdraft balance at the end of year n, and B–1 is the initial Overdraft input.

Include: Standard
