If you need to model a range of different configurations, where for example two separate variants may require different access technologies, then you should model both technologies in the original template and identify Requirement Mappings or separate transformation Multipliers as template parameters in order to select the desired configuration (or perhaps even specify a migration) for each variant in turn.
