2.3.7 Integration with Excel

Full inter-operability with the Microsoft Excel platform is highly convenient, and enables immediate sharing of data with non-specialist colleagues. STEM models can be packaged behind – and controlled entirely by – a self-contained Excel interface, thanks to an add-in toolbar supplied with STEM. This comprehensive integration between STEM and Excel has three main aspects:

  • linking input data from Excel into STEM
  • running a STEM model and scenarios from Excel
  • dynamic linking of STEM results back into Excel.

These techniques are explored in the following exercises. As usual, we shall return to the original model to make sure that everyone keeps in step, so please close the results, switch back to the Editor, close any previous models and re-open WiMAX-DSL02.
