3.7 Entering model data

When you have arranged the model as you want it, you can begin to enter the data.

STEM allows you to address issues by starting from the highest level, incorporating only the essential detail necessary to tackle a particular problem. As a result, you are able to generate initial results quickly without having to spend time and effort in gathering and inputting detailed data. Once the outline results have been obtained, the model can be extended and refined to meet the requirements of the application.

It is important to stress the need to have a clear idea of what you want to model, and which results are going to be significant.

It is also advisable to build a model gradually: first trying to gain an overall picture using limited parameters and then, as you begin to get a feel for what the results are going to show you, adding more detail.
