New views only become fixed if you select Fix As… from the View menu. Typically, you would select Fix as… in order to do one of the following:
- to fix the current view with its present name
- to fix a copy of the view with another name, or
- to replace an existing view.
You can select Unfix from the View menu at any time to re-instate normal behaviour.
So, you can choose between the two view dynamics on a per-view basis.
Note: legacy fixed views are imported as fixed to avoid surprises for existing users.
