4.21.1.2 Navigating the search results

STEM displays the results of the search at the bottom of the dialog.

The results of a search ordered by Element

  1. The first result match is selected and the matching text is highlighted. If the match is the name of an element or a text box, then that element or text box is selected; the appropriate view is opened if necessary. (If an element is not currently in any views, then STEM will ask if the element should be opened in a temporary view.) If a field name or data matches, then the corresponding dialog is opened.
  2. You can step through each result match using the Next and Previous buttons (or using <F3> and <Shift + F3>, respectively). Each element or text box is selected, or dialog opened, in turn.
  3. For In Views and Everywhere searches, you can group results by either view or by element using the Order by option.
  4. To show the selected element in a new view, click the Show in a New View button.
  5. If you change the model while the Find dialog is open, STEM will remove any results that no longer match (e.g., if you delete an element or change a field). However, the converse is not true: new matches will not be added until you click the Find All button again.
