4.2.5 Autosave and model recovery

Introduced in STEM 7.5, the idea of autosave is to make it possible to recover model files if:

  • you forget to save something before closing the Editor
  • due to unexpected circumstances (e.g., Editor crash, power/battery issues, operating system crash), you are unable to save work before closing the Editor.

Autosave is not activated while you are looking at a model and make no changes. As soon as you start making any modifications to a model, the Editor starts to save your work automatically. It autosaves every n minutes (configurable) from the moment at which you start modifying the model until you next save manually. There is a short interruption every n minutes while the model data is copied in memory and the model copy is saved to disk.
