4.14.1 Freezing the result of a formula

If you have previously set a field with a formula and now want to discard the formula while retaining the corresponding value:

  1. Select the field in the data-dialog grid with the mouse or cursor keys.
  2. Select Freeze from the dialog Edit menu.

The value previously calculated by the formula is set and displayed in black, as if you had entered it by hand. For example, 2 + 3 would be replaced by the value 5.

For an input governed by several parameters, such as a time-series button, the Freeze command will set all the inner fields and remove a formula on the button for the input as a whole, but any overriding formulae for individual inner fields will persist – see 4.14.3 Linking default values for model elements. In order to freeze the values of all the inner fields:

  1. Select the button in the data-dialog grid with the mouse or cursor keys.
  2. Select Deep Freeze from the dialog Edit menu.

All formulae, both on and within the button, are replaced by the corresponding values.
